Ok. It’s time. You’ve made the decision! Whether you’re leaving California or and you are ready to sell so you can move on up, move on out or scale down and moving into a different neighborhood, you’re in the right place!
It is time to get your house on the market and ready to sell. Let’s go through it step by step.
It’s what everybody sees when they pull up to your house or look at it online.
Curb appeal is what will keep you them watching longer, scanning more pictures wanting to make an appointment to see inside your house.
Mow the Lawn
First thing you’re going to want to do is get the lawn mown, trees trimmed, bushes cleaned up a little bit. Get it ready so that it looks like a model home.
If you don’t have anything that can pass as a model home in your front yard, go ahead and get like a bag of bark from Home Depot.
Don’t spend a lot of money bag of bark and some of the latest flowers that are in season you could probably get out of there under $30.00 and get the front of your house looking gorgeous!
Clear the path!
You’ll want to tidy up your walkway, clean up all of the grass and the bits and pieces that fall from the trees. If you’ve got a hose that’s straggly and unwound, wind it up. That’ll be prettier in the picture if it’s not straggly and laying on the front of your house.
Rinse the garage off, if you have one.
Rinse off the cobwebs and dirt. Clean it all off. Rinse off all the lights and get it all ready to go so that it looks fresh and cared for.
Be a guest!
Stand at your front door look around. Look up. Look down. Do you have cobwebs? Do you have bird nests or bees nests that need to be removed? Do the windows by the front door need to be cleaned? Pretend you’ve never stood at your front door before and just give it a once-over.
Christmas in Spring?
If you’ve got Christmas lights up and it’s April, PLEASE take
Replace the light fixture by your front door if it is dim or not really lit very well. If it’s an old bulb or an old fixture, just replace it.
You want buyers that are coming to your house to see the entryway as they’re waiting for their realtor to get them into the house. Make it clean, fresh and bright right in that entry area. And don’t forget to wipe off your front door, as well.
Can we see it? Is it legible? Does it have the lights behind it so that it can be illuminated? Replace the bulbs in there so your address is visible when someone pulls up. If you need to, buy a new set of numbers and put them somewhere on the front of your house to make it easy for people to see.
